Task force updates child care guidance

Posted April 23, 2020

The Tarrant County Child Care Task Force has updated its Guidance to Child Care Providers during COVID-19 document to reflect updates made by the Texas Department of Health and Human Services – Child Care Licensing and emerging best practices nationally and in the state.

Some highlights:

  • Recommended use of masks by adult child care teachers in facilities; cloth or homemade masks are recommended; clarification on not requiring mask use by children and forbidding mask use by children 2 and under.
  • If dealing with a COVID-19-positive case, programs should contact child care licensing and Child Care Management Services (CCM). CCMS is contacted to arrange a no-cost deep cleaning for the facility. Programs should expect to be closed between two and five days.
  • Instead of quarantining all staff and children for 14 days, the recommendation takes into account the required separation between classrooms and only the classroom with the COVID-19-positive case is recommended for self-quarantine for 14 days.
